Day 54-- Port Vila, Vanuatu

another port in the Vanuatu chain--Port Vila.. a cloudy early morning made for a late sunrise.. with no rain in the forecast--it started to rain at 9am just before we planned to go out..  we shall see what develops....

10am---what started off as a cloudy rain showers kinda day turned into a pretty sunny blue sky day at 79*.. the gang of 6 met at the bottom of the gangway at 10am as per our usual after breakfast.. we all decided to take a private tour of the island.. Mackenzie was our driver and tour guide in his oversized van  and air conditioning was most welcomed..  off thru the Capital City of Port Vila-- today is Sunday and most every store was closed which we knew beforehand.. a tour of the countryside and along the ocean ..wow views.. our first stop was outside a coconut plantation at a locals farmstand where Mackenzie cut open coconuts with a nice machete for all of us to have the coconut water -- pretty kewl stuff.. next it was a stop at the Blue Lagoon for some pics.. none of us wore our bathing suits unfortunately.. off to the Turtle sanctuary.. then up to one of the local golf course resorts--The Warwick for some pics-- top shelf.. on the way back it was a stop at a scenic overlook above the bay and our ship before back to the ship.. Mackenzie was top notch-- a super guide that gave us a great tour of this beautiful island-- the 2nd largest in the Vanuatu chain of islands.. this island nation is frequented by many Australian tourists about a 2 1/2 hour flight from the mainland.. tomorrow we make our 3rd and last stop in Vanuatu at Mystery Island-- a beach day as the small island is uninhabited -- more to follow when we get there  ...some history about Vanuatu https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanuatu
