dodged a Tropical Storm.. again

looks like we got lucky again.. dodged another Tropical Storm.. ran offshore from us about 30 miles out-- about halfway between the beach and the GulfStream.. rained overnite less than 1".. was supposed to get 5+ inches.. and 40 mph winds.. got neither.. right now the storm is headed up the coast north of us just offshore from Wilmington NC .. probably hit the OBx and Va Beach today as it rides the coast then offshore to the Northeast..

Tropical Storm Warnings for later today

a pretty morning at sunrise at the beach though.. 67* mostly clear skies.. not perfect by any means but it's back to quiet along the beach.. most tourons have left and headed back home as the summer season comes to an end with school starting in the Carolinas and southern Virginia this past week.. ahhhh nice and quiet-- 'just like I like it'...  light rain started around 3pm..

dark and dreary kinda early morning

storms blasted thru in the overnite thru this morning dumping about 2" of rain on us.. ditches along the roads were full to the brim.. this about sums up my trip to the beach this morning.. dark and dreary along the causeway

well.. it's the day after

our non-eclipse with all the clouds and rain yesterday..  a non-sunrise with the low clouds at the beach early this morning.. still turned into a pretty morning...a day too late of course..

a non-Eclipse

didn't look too good in the early morning  and got worse as the start of the Total Solar Eclipse got nearer.. cloudy skies turned to thunderstorms starting around 1pm all the way thru the Eclipse window until 410 pm..  for once the weather people were correct unfortunately as they had the forecast showing 50-60% chance of rain for today's eclipse all the way back from last week.. a couple of minutes after the Eclipse ended the clouds parted and the Sun popped out.. who woulda thunk it

on the road again

left Chester, Va near Ft Lee early at 5am.. little to no traffic as we tried to beat the Southbound Eclipse-a-thon back home..we did.. a lot better than yesterday's zoo on the roads with accidents galore--here there and everywhere.. home at 930am..

forecast doesn't look good for the Eclipse tomorrow afternoon.. been there..done that 4 years ago out at sea heading across to Europa

heading southbound and home

lots of accidents with heavy traffic on this Eclipse weekend drive back home from Saratoga Springs.. after 12 hours  stopped at the Hyatt in Chester Va our usual stopover when we do the Boston cruise ..a familiar place just a couple of miles away from Ft Lee and Petersburg--names from the past
