Day 1- we board the Koningsdam today

in San Diego at the Wyndham right across the street from the SD Cruise Terminal as I watched our ship the Koningsdam make its approach and dock just before 7am right in 'our backyard' ..rain stopped at 4am.. now 49* and sunny..  we'll be walking across the street and boarding the ship around 1130am for our 53 day cruise to Hawaii and Tahiti..... 2 Videos on My YouTube Channel https://youtu.be/4NKnZvNtUuk  ..  https://youtu.be/IHwM7KkdGBg

onboard as the first ones at 1130am.. stopped by the cabin ..on to check our dining room table then up to the Lido for lunch.. forgot about the NY Pizza and Deli so on up to grab a pie.. the best pizza onboard the Holland America ships on the Koningsdam

we're on our way.. a crazy day flying

 what a crazy day of flying..  left our house at 315am.. got to Mytle Beach airport at 4am..our 6am flight was delayed for 'maintenance issues' departing at 730am for Atlanta.. missed our 840am connection to San Diego by a minute or so..  they gave away our first class seats as we stood there at the gate as the plane started up and pulled away.... put us on a 1130am flight .. got the last 2 seats and the very last row 2 middle seats in Main Cabin instead of first class. we took them. everything else all day was booked solid.. just another adventure.. gets better.. heavy cloud cover with fog  in and around SD airport with rain.. as we made our approach the last minute the pilot aborted the landing and had to go full thrust with the engines- Captain advised that there was a plane on the runway that wasn't supposed to be there.. a close call.. the second try was a-okay.. more adventures.. at the Wyndham Hotel about 1.5 miles from the airport where we always stay and  directly across from the cruise terminal ..an e-z walk across the street tomorrow morning to start our cruise

 as I drove over to the beach 33*.. a bit on the chilly side as the wind picked up a smidge.. sunny and up to 55* thru the day.. the Coast Guard suspends the search and rescue for the missing boater   Link to Calling off Search article
