leaving Long Island -heading southbound

this post is for my good friends who grew up back in the 50's and 60's in Coney Island.. Sheepshead Bay.. and Brighton Beach, Brooklyn.--it might bring back some good old memories

we departed our nephew's house on Long Island around 9am this morning.. our plan was to stop in Sheepshead Bay in one of the old neighborhoods I frequented as a kid and pick up some bagels at Emmons Bagels on Emmons Avenue.. from there we drove thru the top part of Brighton Beach along Neptune Avenue to Ocean Parkway.. a block north to West Avenue and Lincoln High School ..and the ball fields- one or two of you might remember playing 'catch a fly is up' and playing PAL baseball there for the 60th precinct NYPD

brought back a lot of great memories growing up on West 1st Street and West Avenue.. unfortunately West 1st Street is no longer there.. replaced back in the early 60's with high rise Co-op Apartment buildings with the likes of Trump Village- yop his old man - and Wabasse Corp. ..  snapped a bunch of pics.. drove down Neptune Avenue to West 8th Street and passed by the Luna Park Co-ops where many of us moved to after being forced from our old homes..  snapped pics  Bldg #3 and Bldg#4 Leon Klein .. then back to Neptune Avenue and snapped some of my old parish church Guardian Angel on Ocean Parkway..

got back on to the Belt Parkway at Ocean Parkway across from what was once Coney Island Hospital but first snapping some pics of the Beach Haven Apartment Bldgs.. heading west on the Belt Pkwy it was on to the Verrazano Bridge over to Staten Island and over the Outerbridge Crossing entering New Jersey and the New Jersey Turnpike heading southbound.. an overnite stop in Baltimore for some personal business ..had to drop by the famed Broadway Diner for a burger as we always do
