Day43--San Diego
59* at sunrise with beautiful clear skies made for a great entrance into
the port.. we were supposed to meet a friend who just moved back to S-D
but his job interview forced a cancellation of our lunch plans with him..
maybe next time.. a short walk to Rite Aid a couple of blocks away
started the day.. then it was a last minute city tour aboard the
guided narrated Trolley-bus.. we got to see the city as well as Coronado island and
back over to Old Town.. a nice 2 1/2 hour guided tour.. along the pier
front we stopped in for a quick fast lunch at Anthony's restaurant.... ate
out on the deck overlooking the bay..Tempura style fish..shrimp and chips along with a
local Amber Ale really hit the spot...a short walk over to the Marina Park area just passed the Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum we got to see the famous 'Kissing Statue' that had just been refurbished ..... temps got up to 80* with low
humidity most of the day.. best day we've ever spent in S-D
weather-wise.. it was back on the ship by 3pm then another Ship's
Safety Drill that was required of all passengers... for dinner we ate at
the Pinnacle Restaurant onboard with Frankie D ..Linda.. Al and
Ruth...we were stuffed ... a nice day overall to begin our last leg
thru the Canal back to Ft Lauderdale on our 56 day cruise
