Day 49--Day at Sea--Gulf of Tehuantepac

after leaving Huatulco at 6am this morning we started our crossing of the infamous Gulf of Tehuantepac ..it's where the Sierra madres meet the Pacific Ocean and the shortest distance between the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific... by 9am the winds came up big time ..   65 knot maximum sustained winds according to the 'o-fish-al' announcement by the Captain with gusts over 70 knots.. that translates to above hurricane force winds ( 1 knot = 1.15 mph)..all the outside decks were closed to passengers ... by 1130am we were finally thru the wind storm.. having passed by this area on previous cruises we knew what to expect.. sometimes the seas and winds are flat and calm.. other times it's all hell breaking loose.. at around noon the outside decks were opened... we sat out on a very hot and sunny day by the Seaview pool...seas calmed and the winds subsided to less than 10 knots by mid-afternoon...  our next port is Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala.. we'll be arriving there tomorrow--Friday-- morning early at 5am...  after dinner tonite we went to the show--Unforgettable--performed by the ship's cast of singers and dancers  who are always exceptionally good.. nice show.. then up to the Crows Nest for Mega Trivia ...

seas and winds subsiding down to 53knots ..high of 65 knots
