Day 48--Huatulco

another pretty sunny day as we docked in Huatulco, Santa Cruz, Mexico..  as we did on the first leg of our cruise when we were here we got off the ship around 1030am and walked around the complex--marina and parked our butts on the very nice beach adjacent to the ship's dock...  we again decided to have a Mexican lunch on the beach.. chicken quesadillas and a Corona..  temps got up into the high 80's...  I had asked the Captain who we knew and had sailed with on prior cruises about the forecast and weather conditions as he passed us by while he was making his early morning sunrise rounds on deck..he said the forecast for tonight was super high winds of 70 to 80 knots in the infamous Gulf of Tehuantepac just south of our location ...it's where the Sierra Madre mountains meet the Pacific Ocean and where the distance between the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean is the shortest and narrowest ....that area can be quite 'sporting' ....have been thru there before with over 100 knot winds and 27 foot seas --made for a great video that I took ........after we came back onboard this afternoon the Captain made the announcement that because of the forecast overnite of severe high winds we were staying docked  in Huatulco tonite and leaving here tomorrow morning at 6am... we will miss our next scheduled port--Puerto Chiapas, Mexico.. that was scheduled for tomorrow.. Puerto Chiapas is a very small port of no redeeming value anyway.. been there three times before on previous trips..  tomorrow will then be a 'day at sea' followed by Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala on Friday .. a variety show tonite in the showroom with Barnaby and two other non-acts.. Barnaby is worth it though.. he's a hoot!
