some clouds-- some color.. Hurricane Erin well offshore

after yesterday's cloud filled morning-- actually an all day weather event-- I went over to the beach before sunrise at the West End at 40th street.. the tide was high--actually within a few minutes of sunrise..  638am high tide.. 640am sunrise.. Hurricane Erin is out offshore from us-about 150 miles to the east.. the Outer Banks of NC up the coast from us is starting to feel the effects of Erin as it has done in the past with these storms..  heavy flooding.. erosion.. evacuations already..  a pleasant early morning with plenty of peeps out on a 'short beach' as the tide rolled in all the way past the trash cans..look like the turtle nests at the start of the dunes survived so far-- it was a close call.. a pretty day with temps up to 84*
