Day 14- at Sea

  • sailing NNW along the Baja coast of Mexico on our second day at sea this early morning with clear sunny  skies  and 68*.. out on the Lido deck aft at 540am waiting for the 605am sunrise.. no one around--NOT EVEN THEE MOUSE--nice and quiet.. arrival in our next port San Diego tomorrow morning..

A SHORT CRUISE STORY--- after many years of cruising on this our #89 cruise on Holland America it's Hats Off to a good old friend--Rennie Bonner and his wife Connie who sailed Holland America as Presidents Club members for many years.. Rennie gave me this hat way back in January 2008 while sailing on the Maasdam..I still have it after all these years getting worn and battered and wear it every early morning while onboard snapping my sunrise pics as a good luck charm..

Rennie used to hand out these hats for his friends and ship's  staff at our early morning coffee get togethers every day on the Lido Deck aft.. Rennie owned a number of commercial sign stores outside the Boston area that his kids and their spouses ran for him while they were cruising ..a super nice guy..  sad to say both he and Connie passed away a few years ago

some on here might remember them along with Herman and Dave ..and thee 'HAT LIVES ON' 🥰
