Day 7-- Half Moon Cay, Bahamas

just a beautiful day as we sail into Half Moon Cay, Bahamas Holland America's private island.. perfect weather.. sunny blue skies 78* and slight seas so tendering was a breeze.. another HAL ship was also at anchorage with us--the Oosterdam.. by 9am we were on a tender and over to the island for a 'beach day'.. I normally walk to the west end of the island on my own but didn't want to aggravate the boo boo knee that is feeling pretty good lately.. with all this cruising ahead of us I thought that was a wise decision.. the west end of the island is the quiet place as not many pax want to walk the 2 miles each way .. anyway had a great day a lil' ways away down the beach from the 'usual suspects' so it was still nice and quiet ..best beach around bar none... love it here... been to the island 45+ times over the years since Holland America leased/purchased it over 20 years ago in 1997 a nice BBQ lunch on the island as part of the ship's dining facilities ..at 230pm it was 'anchors away' as we started our sail back to Ft Lauderdale to end this Part 1 of a 4 part Caribbean trip.. joining us tomorrow on the 2nd leg will be our nephew and his wife--they'll only be on for 7 days-- gotta get back to WORK-- yikes..

it is the best of the best island and beaches

you know which one I chose
leaving for Ft Lauderdale-- looking down from Deck 6 Lower Promenade
