the way it's supposed to be.. first day of Spring .. ahhhhhhhh

...early morning at Sunrise at the beach 43º.. calm .. nice.. grabbed a few pics .. w*rkers were finally starting on the roof of the new Gazebo .. the mainland side of the bridge intersection is a mess.. if they are doing the circle roundabout what a mess we're all in store for.. dangerous one too.. oh well so much for politicians..

no luck again at the lake as it sure shut down... had to go back over to the Pier late this morning to drop some old pics off ..  on the way back we saw a Gator up on the bank of the lake behind the golf-green.. looks like the first day of Spring has sprung them out of the mud.. now what will happen to the two resident Swans .. last year they 'beat-feet' when the Gators showed up.. I would imagine the same will happen this year.. temps reached 71º and sunny this afternoon..

4 days of rain... waterlogged

drove over to the beach earlier this morning... still misty--raining--foggy conditions.. didn't even get out of my truck as I got to the beach parking lot--only one car there.. uglee weather--41º North winds @10-15 gusting higher..  stopped at the Lake no better there.. got one hit on a spinnerbait.. that was it.. just not right in those conditions to be out there..

saw some white foam at the Lake's bank.. guess there is too much rain but better than the 'other white stuff' ..  other unusual items lying around for some pics..

a 'GREENIE' on a GREEN Day....Happy St Paddy's Day

been raining here since yesterday morning.. 42º at the Lake this AM.. NNE wind @ 10-15 ..a cold dreary rain soaked day but I decide to try my LUCK on St Paddy's Day.. be-gosh and be-golly..  sweatshirt with rain jacket.. this is nutz.. fugghedabouddit  but I didn't-- at least I didn't listen to the 3/4's I-Tal-yun part of me today

using a $1 dollar WalMart SpinnerBait in BLACK ( is there really any other color or non-color on a non-sunrise kinda day) on my third cast I hook up... not much splashing but it sure tugged a lot.. had to keep it out of the snotgrass..

got it to the bank and my old Penn rod snaps as I try to drag it out of the water and up the bank...  I had 3 rods rigged in the truck as I usually do.. a Yami 'woim' on a Uglee Stik.. a $1 Walmart Buzz Bait in Black on another Uglee Stik and this one.. of course he hit the old Penn rod.. at least it had 8#  Fireline Crystal rigged

I knew it was a decent size having caught a 4-8  early last week..

this fat GREEN fish--a Largemouth Bass-- was 6#--10 oz.. haven't gotten one
over 6#'s from this lake in a couple of years...

the LUCK of thee IRISH was with me this morning.. had two other light hits and that was it..  oh.. and NO Gators around  :)

hay.. don't take much to make me happy  :) :)

Corned Beef and Cabbage of course for dinner tonite with friends at our house.. gotta keep this Lucky GREEN thing going  :)

a GREENIE--Largemoth Bass 6#--10 oz

Catch and Release of course.. he's lucky too

am I nutz or what in this cold rain

here comes more rain.. again

started drizzling as I left the house a half hour before sunrise this morning.. by the time I got to the Lake it was raining harder.. I briefly crossed over the bridge to the island just to snap a couple of pics as the sun tried to break thru the clouds.. it didn't.. back to the lake wetting a line proved to be again fruitless.. so much for the theory it's better fishing  in the rain--nobody evidently told the fish that.. rain continued all thruout the day as we went shopping down to Myrtle Beach as we usually do on Sundays...  forecast shows rain thru at least Tuesday.. not good.. :(

on days like today.. you can practice tying the Uni Knot  in this video... an e-z to tie widely used fishing knot

overcast but a lot warmer than yesterday.. 'et tu, Brute'

'beware the Ides of March'...  so it was a blown-out sunrise.. with plenty of clouds...but at least it was 58º ... a sorry early morning at the beach.. back over to the mainland and a stop at the Lake.. nada.. squat.. zilch as I wet a line with zero results.. amazing how it can just 'shut down'  ..the sun finally broke thru around 9am and it warmed up  nicely to 72º for the rest of the day..

here's another fishing knot video..  Canoe Man Loop Knot

it's cold... 29º at Sunrise.. no wind

which made it a lot nicer than it was yesterday with 43º temps and North winds at 20+...I'm getting to hate the wind more than the rain in this cold weather we're still having  after stopping at the beach for the Sunrise I stopped off at the lake and decided the last minute to 'wet a line'.. glad I did... with the Yami 'woim' caught a nice Largemouth Bass.. had a few more hits  and hookups but they were lost in the heavy snotgrass..  I mash my hook barbs down for e-z removal for catch and release..

while getting ready to stop fishing I looked up across the lakefront and there was an Osprey chasing an intruder--a Bald Eagle-- away from the Osprey's nesting area.. this goes on  every once in a while.. this morning a battle ensued with the Osprey.. and his backup Osprey.. winning the clash...chasing the Bald Eagle across the road and down the ICW  'what an in-flight battle'.. looked like a Top Gun battle in the air .....only had the 70-300 lens so couldn't get that close... snapped some sequence pics at the end of these pics for today  ..

gimme the rain back.. brrrrrr

as I headed over to the beach stopped at the Lake... 43º and North winds at 20... not nice..yop I'll take the rain like yesterday-- at least the fish bite...  a pretty Sunrise but the winds were not playful on the beach... didn't stay long... a stop at the ICW and headed home... this cold is just not right...  BTW no bites at the lake..

crossed the road in front of me

rain is good...

but only if you're fishin' at the lake... a light rain started falling as I left the house headed over to the lake...with no sunrise in store I decided to wet a line anyway... of course it started to rain harder as I got out of the truck..lower barometer = feeding fish  .. but well worth it as I landed 2 Largemouth Bass ..one on a Spinner bait..the other on a Yami Worm...plenty more hits.. only one other hookup that dropped off in the snotgrass

as soon as I got home.. the rain stopped... sun came out late morning and it turned into a nice sunny 68º day... supposed to have a cold front blast thru here later today thru the nite... with temps tomorrow only in the high 40's.. we shall see
