we departed the hotel in Athens at 11am for the short 8 mile transfer bus ride over to the cruiseport in Piraeus to embark the Nieuw Statendam- our 'cruise-home' for the next 56 days on the water.. as President's Club members on Holland America we were met in the terminal by our good friend Cynthia the Guest Relations Manager who escorted us priority onboard.. a partly cloudy day with not a chance of a sunrise.. as our norm we avoided the confusion and chaos in the dining room the first nite of most cruises by having dinner in the Pinnacle Grill... we were joined by our good friends Cassie and Henk- who happens to be the Captain onboard.. a super dinner as usual.. we departed for tomorrow's 'day at sea' enroute to our first port of call-- Valletta, Malta with arrival there on Monday 8am
