a 'no sunrise light rain kinda morning' that turned into a spectacular day-- no tours today-- but we met up with our good friends Jan and Juul who live in the Netherlands.. Juul is a retired Chief Engineer from Holland America cruise line.. we know them 20 years having sailed with them many times.. they drove their RV up from Zeeland to meet us for the day.. we got together outside the terminal took a water taxi over to the old Rotterdam cruise ship that is now docked on the river and used as a hotel and museum.. back over to the land side nearby our ship and terminal we were going to have lunch at the old Hotel New York .. no reservations were available so decided to go back onboard our ship with Jan and Juul as Visitors.. Juul and Jan saw many old friends he worked with as we ate lunch in the Lido Market.. of course Captain Henk and Cassie joined the reunion of sorts as many others stopped by our table.. what a great time we all had.. better than any tour could ever be.. before having to leave as we were scheduled to set sail at 330pm Cassie brought all of us to the Bridge where we met up again with Captain Henk and took a few photos of all of us for old times sake.. it turned into a super nice day outside but we sure had an even better day with all of us getting together.. wow.. couldn't ask for anything more as we all said our good-byes at the gangway just before our sailaway as we begin our last part of our 43 day cruise onboard the Nieuw Statendam..
