Happy Thanxgiving to all who celebrate
it was up to the Sports Deck-aft at 5am as we passed thru the Straits of Messina separating Messina, Sicily from the mainland Calabria.. .. a 657am pretty sunrise as we were making the turn toward the west along the Sicilian coast toward Catania .. we passed by Taormina.. and Mt Etna with it's snow covered peak.. it was our first time visiting Catania unfortunately a bit too far away from our favorite town of Taormina which we have visited 4 times in the past.. a stop at the base of the town like we did on the Oosterdam in 2022 would have been the way to go or even stopping in Messina a super nice city.. Catania is just a big city not too walkable and not our favorite as we went thru parts of the city with our friends Mel and Nancy.. there is always a 'bad one' out there and after many cruises to Europe we have found one..
