Day 57- Funchal, Madeira

Happy Veterans Day to all my fellow Veterans and especially to all my fellow Vietnam Veterans and a big salute to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice so all of us can be free.. a-ten-hut !!!

we just arrived and docked in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal at 6am.. as always just a beautiful 'sail-in' with lights along the city and above on the mountainside.. should be a nice day in Funchal one of our favorite places to visit having been here a number of times over the past years..

at 10am it was out and on to the shuttle-bus for the short ride to downtown..a walk along the waterfront to the Cable Car greeted us with a 1 hour wait ... so it was on to Plan B.. across the street we got on the Hop On-Hop Off bus for the 2 hour tour of the island.. a beautiful ride out in the open air bus on a pretty 70* day..

back to the Cable Car with a 5 minute wait so up we went to Monte.. at the top snapped some pics..  walked around then saw the line for the Monte Sleigh Ride backed up with a 1.5 hour wait.. since we've been on it in years past we avoided the line and passed it up.. some more pics then back down on the Cable Car to Funchal.. stopped at the Mercado then walked for a capuccino  .. more walking then back on the shuttle bus to the ship by 330pm.. a full day as we begin our Transatlantic crossing this evening after we had dinner in the Canaletto

we've been advised by the Captain that the ship's internet may not be working at full bandwidth or for that matter working at all as we begin our 7 day transatlantic crossing later this evening.. it already was down most of the day yesterday and last evening at sea.. we shall see.. one must adapt😄😁
