I got up on deck--Lido Deck aft starboard side-- at 415am...we
arrived at the entrance to the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal..
having transited the Canal roundtrip on four previous cruises we
knew pretty much what to expect ...awaiting our turn to enter the
first of the three Gatun Locks ... then we entered the Canal.....
the travel guide came onboard and did a nice presentation and guided
tour as we made our way thru the Canal to the Pacific side at
Balboa... weather was cooler than expected thru most of the early
morning with partly cloudy skies... later mid-morning the sun was
out in full force sending temps up to the high 80's thru the rest of
the day.. Celebrity's Century who also left Ft Lauderdale on our
departure date last Friday was right behind us thru the transit..
the locks for the new Canal set to open next year were seen after
passing under the Bridge of the Americas..they were taking shape
nicely ... I ended my day on deck at 4pm as we entered the Pacific
Ocean passing by Fuerto Amador and the inlet with Panama City in the
background.. tonite's show was a comedian..funny guy.. all the entertainment has been pretty good so far.. tomorrow we head up the west coast of Panama crossing over into Costa Rica...
