we arrived in Kahului, Maui early this morning before sunrise after a sail of about 100 miles overnite from Honolulu.. the wind and seas were back to the nasty again.. gale force winds 35+ knots .. as we entered the bay the winds slowed down and were blocked by the mountains..another 'late sunrise' blocked by the mountains.. a nice long walk into town.. sunny skies and 79* temps were around until mid afternoon .. the Captain advised we would be leaving Kahului today at 6pm rather than the scheduled 8pm because of the forecast of extra strong winds in this small bay which would make maneuvering the ship unsafe..
