nice and colorful skies

with the forecast showing foggy and cloudy conditions with a chance of rain later on, I took a chance hoping for colorful skies and drove over to the island and walked on to the beach near the Pier.. I was not disappointed.. foggy at the house.. clear and 68* at the beach.... high tide just about at sunrise at 720am so not much beach to walk on.. it rained later on in the day and in the mid 70's

too early for a sunrise..

soooo..with a 719am sunrise I left the island well  before the sunrise and headed back home-- it was time to get in line and VOTE.. we headed over to the early voting center in downtown Calabash about a mile from the house... not bad as we are in line about 50 peeps back.. waiting a few more minutes until 8am for the opening.. this is the first day of early voting in North Carolina-- ends Oct 31.. no big deal with the line--just flashbacks to my Army days standing in line.. and the old 'hurry up and wait'.. gotta love it

a 'late sunrise' at the beach-- a happy day

a drive over to the beach at 40th street with lots of heavy clouds... a slimmer of hope for a sunrise.. with some patience and about 10 minutes late the sun appeared for a short while-- patience-patience is the word.. 71*.. a nice morning .. up to 81* this afternoon and sunny.. a 'happy' kinda day

before sunrise-- lots of clouds

a few dog-walkers walking west along the beach

made me smile

the sun goes hidden behind the clouds-- some 'rays'

an uglee looking rainy morning.. at the house.. Hurricane Delta -- now downgraded to Post Tropical Storm Delta--hit the Gulf Coast and has now moved NNE and inland from our location on the east coast .. heavy rain from early this morning starting at 3am .. still raining at the house  now at 8am..  at least with all the rain we're getting it is 74*

heavy rain at the house at 630am

Delta is widespread as it moves NNE

clouds.. a sunrise.. and boats

with mostly clouds all over I drove to the island and decided to walk on to the beach near the Sunset Beach Pier mainly because of the local SKA King Mackeral fishing Tournament still going on this weekend.. boats everywhere as the day started for them at 7am.. the sunrise was kinda subdued but with a forecast for rain coming up and across from Hurricane Delta the next couple of days had to get out there.. Delta hit the Gulf Coast yesterday and is moving NNE across and inland from us toward the Northeast

darker than it looks --before sunrise

Sunset Beach-- East End this early morning

a lil' different this early morning as I drove over to the East End of the island.. very very quiet with just a couple of people walking on the beach towards Tubbs Inlet that separates Sunset Beach island from Ocean Isle Beach island.. the inlet is non-navigable it is so shallow as a result of all the storms we've had over the years.. 63* .. no wind .. this morning it was Low Tide so most of the larger sandbars where all of the shore-birds gather were easily accessible.. a nice sunny day 81*
