'kewl' temps with fog

at least on the mainland... driving over to the Beach I snapped the fog over the mouth of the Calabash River... then headed on over to the Beach at 40th street today for a change of pace.. no fog there as the ocean water temps are now back up to 51º..

on the drive back home I stopped at Oyster Bay Lake to check out the wildlife and 'wet a line' for a few minutes.. not a bump...no Eagles today

a few birds.. a pretty sunny morning once again

decided to check out the birds along the way this morning..  at the beach in the surf as well as at the Lake where I spotted a Bald Eagle who is usually a regular here every January thru late May.. unfortunately I had the shorter zoom lens trying out the new Canon 70-200L rather than the Canon 400L..  37º but with little wind made for a pleasant Sunrise-time

low 60's for the rest of this sunny day.. rain is forecasted overnite into tomorrow.. hay maybe the fish will bite again at the Lake..

'kewler' temps.. but the Sun is back

another 'down at the beach' kinda early morning.. 47º on a clear beautiful SUN-filled day... stopped at the ICW to plug a few minutes.. nada... then stopped at the Lake.. after yesterday's catches thought maybe it would continue.. it didn't.. not a bump after about 20 minutes of trying.. temps reached 62º and stayed sunny all day... my kinda January day

a different look

the forecast was for rain all day today.. well no rain so far..I went over to the beach in heavy 'pea-soup' fog...some nasty stuff along the Sunset Beach Causeway..  all alone this morning at the beach.. not a dawg-walker could be found..  stopped at the ICW after leaving the beach.. then on over to the Lake where I 'wet a line' for about a half hour.. had 4 hits with 2 catches--Largemouth Bass  ..all 'catch and release' of course

UPDATE   ..finally got the heavy rain showers about 6pm this evening.. the storm system has almost passed us as it heads east-northeast and out offshore..   NWS posted a  Tornado Watch until 8pm tonite...

a day makes a difference..

well.. almost  .  a colorful sky makes for a pretty sunrise  at Sunset Beach near da' Pier... as I was walking off the beach.. rain started coming down... by the time I got home it stopped..the forecast for rain all day proved the forecasters wrong .. by 9am the sun came out and it was beautiful for the rest of the day with nice warm temps at 72º... the clouds moved back in just before sunset with  passing showers a few minutes ago... forecast is for rain thru tomorrow nite

cold..windy..ripples..beach..brrrrrr

this morning .. a non-Sunrise on Sunset Beach.. it was 35º with 10-15mph COLD NE winds.. the winds caused the sand to blow off the dunes in this ripple pattern at low tide

the big question is.. what the heck was I doing out there..brrrrrr

brrrrrrr.... 18º .. not a nice early morning

after a couple of days of off/on rain the cold air blew down from the north... had plans to head down to the beach for some Sunrise pics.. changed plans..  south Florida even caught the brunt of this with overnite temps in the mid 40's and highs at 51º  Brooklyn and Long Island showed 4º  into the low 20's tonite once again.. I need a cruise..HEAT... St Thomas had a high of 86º this afternoon
