the 'eye of the storm'

 the last of Idalia is passing us by with the eye just offshore from us at 5am this early morning.. by mid-morning the Sun was shining.. an e-z cleanup mainly small twigs.. forecast for sunny days over the next week

 UPDATE 5pm Wed --it's getting closer ..forward movement at 21 mph to the NE .. the faster it moves the less rain and it moves out quicker.. yesterday it was only moving at 8mph in the Gulf as it built up to a Cat 3/4 ..raining off/on thruout the day..still raining...   at 9am  took a drive over to the ICW on the mainland side of the bridge near the park and boat landing after I picked up our 'hold mail' at the post office.. from the Sunset Beach PierCam at 5pm.. at least the beach isn't crowded today..

heading back home..

left long Island at 530am to beat the rush hour traffic on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn.. no taffic problems all the way south.. Tuesday evening--arrived back home .. better to be before the storm at home than trying to get thru flooded roads in NC afterwards  and possibly get stranded along the I-95 route.. that was the reason we headed home rather than stay an extra 4 or 5 days .. looks like Idalia is getting closer.. forecast is still passing by us as a Tropical Storm--hopefully only a TS--  sometime early Thursday morning https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at5+shtml/213341.shtml?cone#contents

the drive north-on the road again

on the road again on this early Tuesday morning as we set out for our drive north at 430am..  a heckuva way to catch the sunrise as we drove northbound on I-95.. of course with all the planning of trying to beat the Brooklyn to Long Island rush hour..we didn't .. great trip up until we crossed over the Verrazano Bridge heading from NYC's Staten Island on to the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn.. passing by some familiar places from years past where I grew up Coney Island.. Sheepshead Bay.. and the surrounding neighborhoods like Bay Ridge.. Bath Beach..Canarsie..Aqueduct..  finally arriving at my nephew's house on Long Island at 5pm.. just another journey north..
